CESV – A child saved a life!
A Russian friend of ours has shared some news which is very important and shows how communities can come together, and more importantly be prepared for those surprises that life is sure to bring us.
During last year I attended and wrote an 
account of how a number of people from the Russian community attended a first aid training course run by the TRNC, Civil Emergency Service Volunteers (CESV) which you can read more by clicking here.
For me, the most important vision was to see a young boy place a full grown man in the recovery position and to hear Bob Flint the CESV senior trainer recount the case of when a child saved her mother’s life by taking the necessary action. So what of this event and what benefit did our Russian friends get from attending this course.

“To be on the safe side”
“On the 19th of January 2013 a group of Russians were awarded with certificates that proved their knowledge of how to act in emergency following the course given by the CESV trainers. The course took place on the 15th of September 2012 and appeared to be really interesting and popular for the Russian society.
One day I just asked myself if I knew what to do if someone has a heart attack, is seriously burnt or if someone is unconscious…. I realised that I didn’t know anything! This is a shock when yo
u imagine the critical situation and think how would you solve the problems and you are faced with perhaps, saving someone’s or your own life.
I decided I have to get ready because you never know what will happen tomorrow. Luckily I knew where to go for a useful lecture – The Civil Emergency Service Volunteers invited anyone interested to attend this three day course that would cover the majority of emergency cases.
I asked other Russians if they would be interested in the course too and was not even surprised when in one day I collected a group of 10 participants! This was one of the most efficient and interesting days I had in 2012! Thank you to the great team of CESV who became good friends to all of us.”
So there we have it, perhaps the most important message for the expat communities of North Cyprus. You can come together and help this country be what it what it is, a fast developing and dynamic country that can 
become even stronger through the participation of you and I.
