We should remember that a solution is made by leaders on paper however peace is made by the people in their hearts. In the geography we live, the increasing number of people who are longing for peace reveals the reality that a viable solution in our country is very important for regional peace”.
Turkish President Erdoğan will visit TRNC today
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit TRNC today.
Erdoğan will visit mausoleums of the leader of Turkish Cypriots’ Struggle of Freedom Dr Fazıl Küçük and the Founding President Rauf Denktaş and lay wreaths.
An official welcoming ceremony will be held at 13:15 at the Presidency and Erdoğan and Eroğlu will hold a joint press conference at 15:15 at the Presidency.
Erdoğan is expected to leave the TRNC after completing his visit at 21:00
Leaders meeting postponed
The UN asked for the postponement of the leaders meeting which is scheduled to be on 2nd September, due to the Cyprus
According to the statement made by the UNFICYP Spokesperson – Michael Bonnardeaux the date of the September meeting of the leaders will be set during the visit of Eide which will be between 5-8 September.
Turkish Cypriot negotiator – Kudret Özersay said that Eide will be received by President Eroğlu on 5 September and they will also meet on 6 September.
