At the beginning of March 2011, through the support of our close friends, we were able to hold our first fundraising event for Tulips/HTWCA at the Soyz Sunday Market, Catalkoy.
Little did we realise that almost 7 years later we would only just be retiring from our voluntary fundraising efforts for this wonderful charity.
Many of you will know and understand why we started raising awareness of Tulips. The charity had helped one of our friends who had been diagnosed with cancer. 
Later Tulips then helped one of us, who was also diagnosed with cancer. It was then that we both felt that we needed to express our gratitude to the association and do something to help in return and in doing so raise the awareness of what Tulips do and also raise funds to support their activities.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the support that you have given Tulips over this period. We have witnessed supporters jumping off mountain tops, students dressing up for the day, concerts, Car Treasure Hunt, Zumba classes, Quizzes, Dart Competitions, Pastamarathon, Fiddlathon, Birthday Donations, Ladies Football, Donate a Handbag, Ladies nights, Chilly Dippers, Steppers, stalls and auctions…… the list is endless, but let’s not forget the island turning pink as everyone supported the largest single event, ‘Pink October’, by wearing something pink to show support and all in aid of Tulips. It has been truly amazing to see so many of you throw yourselves so wholeheartedly into some incredible fundraising events.
We have also received terrific support from the press and media and so many local businesses that we cannot even start to name them.
To all of you who have supported us over this period, thank you for choosing Tulips, as many of you know the charity works tirelessly to support cancer patients in the TRNC, without this charity there would not be the support infrastructure that there is today.
We are indebted to each and every one of you for the generosity and support that you have shown Tulips and we are truly blessed to have met you all through our 7 year journey, with so many of you inspiring us to keep going. But, as we have stated previously, ‘all good things must come to an end’ and the word ‘thank you’ seems so inadequate to express how much your support has meant to us.
Now that we have retired from active fundraising we want to let you know how much, as a team, we have raised over this 7 year period and we hope that you will be as proud, as we are, of what we have all achieved together:
1,213,230 TL!! Yes you have read that correctly we are way over a million…..
The one thing that we would ask you all is please continue supporting Tulips, it is so important to continue with fundraising activities, as Tulips still needs approximately 115,000TL per month – none of us knows what is around the corner and any one of us could be asking for their support.
Lastly, the Lambousa Stall has come on in leaps and bounds in the last year and half since Lynda Hillard and a great team of volunteers took over the reins, however, to continue this success the stall needs a constant supply of donations.
