ESENTEPE KKSK v AKOVA VUDA TÇB

Esentepe blew away Akova with a very impressive performance in this opening match of the season.

Esentepe never allowed Akova to settle particularly in the first half as they hounded and pressurised their opponents into making errors.

This was a “new look” Esentepe team after many comings and goings during the summer. Being a Derby match a large crowd were in evidence on a hot sunny afternoon.

Actıon pıctures from match

Esentepe almost took the lead in the 7th minute, when Akova’s keeper Erol made an outstanding block first to deny Hasan’s close range effort and then to deflect Başak follow up effort away for a corner.

From that corner taken Ahmet, HASAN was not to be denied a debut goal planting a header pass Erol to give Esentepe a 9th minute lead. 1-0

15 mins : It was 2-0, again that man HASAN, fastening onto a Eser pass which he expertly placed his shot pass the advancing Erol. 2-0.

21 mins : Akova should have pulled a goal back, when following a long Zeki pass, Cemil appeared to fall over Onur outstretched leg.

Cemil took the resultant penalty only to see Esentepe “new” goalkeeper Kemal fling himself to his right to block the penalty and the followup shot was blasted over the bar. Kemal signed from Alsancak during the summer quickly became a favourite with the Esentepe supporters with that brilliant save.

Esentepe suffered a blow after 35 minutes when Hasan went down with an injury which looked like a hamstring problem, and he was carried off on a stretcher to be replaced by another new signing Turan.

Esentepe continued to dominate the half with Hüseyin and Mahmut in the midfield getting through a lot of work despite the heat.

44 mins : Captain BAŞAK got himself on the scoresheet sending in a glancing header from a Ahmet cross, the ball hitting the near post and rebounding over the line. HALF TIME : 3-0.

With nothing to lose Akova started the second with a bit more purpose, Kemal only managed to parry a dangerous low cross to Berhan who saw his effort blocked by the ever alert Emre Soytürk.

68 mins : TURAN got a debut goal heading in a Ahmet corner from the left to make it 4-0.

71 mins : Following a rare Akova corner, Esentepe teenage right back Emre put in a tremendous lung bursting run from his own goal area, outstripping two opponents before sending in an angled drive which was beaten away for a corner by Erol.

81 mins : Akova were awarded a second penalty when Berhan’s fierce shot hit İsmail arm. This time İrfan took the penalty, but again they could not beat Kemal who again brilliantly flung himself to his left to beat away the penalty. Kemal now a true hero among the Esentepe supporters.

83 mins : He was finally beaten when İRFAN scored a consolation goal with a low shot which crept in at the far post. 4-1.

More action pictures from the match

Akova had one more attempt following a goalmouth scramble which saw Nersin clear a Zeki effort off the line . FULL TIME : 4-1.

SUMMING UP : Well I never expected that, a thoroughly top class performance from Esentepe. Nearly a perfect team performance, buts lets not get too carried away, it will be a long hard season. Hasan looks a natural goalscorer something that the team has been lacking over the last few seasons. Though at 36 years old he needs to be wrapped in cotton wool, but he looks like a striker that will score many goals. I thought Esentepe would struggle to replace Ali in goal, but Kemal is more that an adequate replacement. Hüseyin and Mahmut were outstanding, everyone contributed a great team effort.

ESENTEPE STAR PLAYERS :L to R : 2 goalscorer Hasan Özcelık, 2 penalty save Goalkeeper  Kemal Molla and a goal on his debut for Turan  İlçıktay.

ESENTEPE MAN OF THE MATCH* KEMAL* to save 1 penalty is good to save 2 penalties exceptional.
