CLOSURE OF KYRENIA (GIRNE) AND NICOSIA (LEFKOSA) DISTRICTS
PERMISSION TO TRAVEL
As usual there is confusion regarding what can and cannot be permitted in the Districts of GIRNE(KYRENIA) and LEFKOSA(NICOSIA) during this period of ‘lockdown’. Apart from going to the businesses that are specified as ‘essential’ (food shops, bakeries, pharmacies, petrol stations etc) we are being asked whether permission is required to undertake other activities.
We are currently trying to get clarification from the Government relating to these questions. We are aware that if you are attending appointments inside your District (GIRNE or LEFKOSA) there should be not be a problem. However, should you need to leave either of the two Districts then you will need permission. In those cases please log on to the following website and apply for permission to travel.
If your application is approved then you will receive an SMS containing a QR code, which will enable the relevant authorities, i.e. Police to check the authenticity of the approval through the QR Code, at any checkpoint.
