The British Residents’ Society published very important news on 12th July 2020 with the latest information provided through their ongoing liaison with the TRNC authorities about the Coronavirus Regulations and Residency which we are sharing for other readers who are seeking the latest facts and information.

UPDATE 12th July 2020

THIS IS A LENGTHY DOCUMENT SO PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO
READ THE CONTENTS.

NEW INFECTIONS IN TRNC

“As can be seen from the above graphic the numbers of new infections seem to have stabilised for now. The next ‘challenge’ will be when the UK finally drops to Category B in the W.H.O. rankings which will mean no quarantine, and knowing the numbers of ‘Swallows’ and still some ‘Residents’ who wish to return this could possibly cause an increase.

I think that we must also acknowledge the fact that trying to contain the TRNC in a ‘bubble’ will achieve nothing and that the local economy must be allowed to recover, so please think about your safety.”

The remainder of the newsletter is lengthy so we give our readers the option of reading this online or downloading

  1. Thank you for this important information. For any spouse or partner applying for residency on the STRENGTH OF THEIR sponsor/supporter’s (immovable) property, after they register they will be asked for some details of their supporter (husband, wife or property deed holder) including their IMMIGRATION FILE NUMBER.
As we do not yet know my IMMIGRATION FILE NUMBER, we simply skipped down the page, uploaded my wife’s passport copy and Muhtar’s letter and hey presto, MY IMMIGRATION FILE NUMBER was no longer required. This meant my wife’s registration application could proceed which it did, leading to her getting a Girne Police station appointment (not Nicosia) in late August, minutes after my own interview.
I hope this information will be helpful to others.

  2. Thank you Kyrenyicommentator for the time and effort expended in getting this valuable information to people.

viz Old Residency Applications in LIMBO
Allow me first to urge everybody with residency concerns to READ through the excellent pdf document provided on this page. I do not want my (this) message to generate time-consuming queries already addressed by the carefully written and comprehensive pdf. Thank you.

-If I might just add one more pointer- People who previous to the Covid-Lockdown began their Residency application(s) but who hadn’t / haven’t managed to complete the process (i.e. getting residency) OR who were promised to be called for final interview at the Lefkosa Interior Ministry BUT who haven’t been called or otherwise contacted, may want to consider REGISTERING again ELECTRONICALLY. -Yes, from scratch.

Prior to the Covid-Lockdown, my wife and I considered our Residency application(s) finished, having submitted all necessary documents, taken the medical tests, and acquired medical insurance. When we returned to the Interior Ministry building in Lefkosa in March, we were sent away and told we would be contacted regarding our final Appointment. That never happened. We waited a month (after Residency application processing resumed in June) but when we heard nothing, no call, no email, decided we should re-REGISTER, this time ELECTRONICALLY. (The various helpline numbers we repeatedly called led to nothing). Anyway, that’s what we did and so we will (quite contentedly) join the back of the queue and hope for the best.

    1. Thank you Martin for your very comprehensive comment and we echo you plea that readers take the time to read documents provided and then they may find many answers they are looking for.
