Üstel received 2020 Olympic Hope Athlete, Yiğitcan Hekimoğlu

Minister of Tourism and Environment Ünal Üstel received the National Athlete Yiğitcan Hekimoğlu, who expressed his pleasure at being invited for the visit.

Hekimoğlu said that he is working for the goal of taking part in the Olympics in 2020, and while preparing for this it is important and valuable to be accepted by the state elders.

“It is an honour for us to prove the existence and integrity of the Turkish Cypriot in achievements in the international arena and to be a part of it.  I am fully convinced that I can improve with the support of our country and our elders.”

Ünal Üstel, the Minister of Tourism and Environment, said that they have been following Hekimoglu, who has achieved international success, and that they are proud of him.  Stating that Hekimoğlu has achieved success in many races so far, Üstel hoped that these successes would be a great example and motivation for young people in the country.  He added that the Turkish Cypriot people are given the opportunity to see the type of achievements that could be achieved by young people and Yiğitcan is a model for our youth.

Explaining that, as a Ministry, they are ready to make all kinds of contributions for Yiğitcan, Üstel said that there are many talented young people in the country and encouraging these young people is of great importance for the future of the country. Yigitcan’s successes are also important for the promotion of the country,  and the Minister wished him success in his goal to participate in the Olympics in July 2020.
