It took two goals from Geçitkale’s defender KORAY KELEŞ to overcome a dogged and plucky performance by bottom club Yarköy.

Sunday November 18 : BTM League Red Group : Geçitkale Stadi.
Taking advantage of an 11-00am kick off on a glorious sunny November morning, I decided to visit Geçitkale’s new Stadium for the first time. I say new Stadium, but what they have done is installed an artificial surface and floodlights, the old terrace is still the same. However it still looked impressive on this bright sunny morning that attracted a good crowd.
Yarköy have lost all of their matches this season, being firmly anchored at the bottom, but they did not play like a team in that position, or maybe Geçitkale were having an off day.

The first half was pretty even going in all square at the interval. In the second half Yarköy were not so effective and gradually Geçitkale got on top, eventually taking the lead. In the final 10 minutes Yarköy made a spirited attempt to save the match, without really putting any real pressure on the Geçitkale goal.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS :
13 mins : Geçitkale Müdjat on the left did well to send an overhead kick across the goal area, where Nazımcan headed over the bar.
25 mins : Yarköy almost opened the scoring when their Captain Ekrem Aktaş, unmarked outside the area, tried his luck with a speculative shot, which crashed against the Geçitkale crossbar before being cleared.
30 mins : Geçitkale squandered a great chance when Müdjat on the right sent over a cross to the far post, where Mustafa Bal in a good position sliced his shot wide.
31 mins: Yarköy immediately attacked at the other end and the Geçitkale goalkeeper Gürcan was forced into a smart diving save from a shot from Ekrem Aktaş.
35 mins : The deadlock was finally broken, when Geçitkale were awarded a free kick just outside the area. Their burly defender KOLAY KELEŞ took the kick, swerving it round the wall and into the top right hand corner of the net, giving the Yarköy goalkeeper Murad no chance. 1-0
37 mins : Yarköy immediately equalised through OSMAN GÜN, the right back stole into the box before beating Gürcan with a low shot. 1-1
For Geçitkale midfielder Hüseyin Özbilen was showing some nice touches in midfield. Winger Müdjat Arsantas was also working hard, providing crosses for the forwards. For Yarköy Ekrem Aktaş was looking lively upfront. HALF TIME SCORE : 1-1
53 mins : A cross from the left from Müdjat went across the Yarköy goal without anyone managing to get a touch to it.
64 mins : A poor pass in the Yarköy penalty area was pounced upon by Müdjat who looked certain to score with only the goalkeeper to beat, that keeper Murad bravely dived at the Geçitkale forward’s feet to prevent a certain goal.
Yarköy “seemed to have shot their bolt”, as Geçitkale appeared to be getting on top and it was another goal from KORAY KELEŞ that clinched the match for Geçitkale in the 70th minute. From a free kick on the left taken by Müdjat, the Geçitkale defender flicked the ball on with his head and the ball crept into the Yarköy’s left hand side of the goal. 2-1.
Yarköy bravely came back in the final minutes of the match but were unable to find the equaliser. FULL TIME SCORE : 2-1
