Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan met with the operators of public transportation in the Güzelyurt-Lefke region and exchanged views on the combining of public transportation under one company.
Speaking at the meeting in the Municipality of Guzelyurt Ataturk Cultural Center, Minister Atakan said there is an unsustainable structure of public transport in the country, and Güzelyurt and Lefke public transport infrastructure is unable to cope with the region’s potential.
Minister Atakan stated that they have been working for 8 months in order to organise public transportation in different regions of the country under a single roof, and that the personalisation is the preferred model of corporate protection.
Güzelyurt and Lefke operators, who looked positively at the structure the Ministry intends to create, asked questions of Minister Atakan regarding the structure of the company and the way the system will be formed.
Answering the questions, the Minister of Public Works and Transportation pointed out that the advantages of incorporation of public transport in the Güzelyurt region can be achieved in a very short time and called on the enterprises in the region to contribute to the finalisation of the project.
Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar, Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya, Traffic Department Manager Ahmet Aydın and Kar-İş President Beksan Bekir Akandere also attended the meeting.
