The “Northern Cyprus Tourism Cooperation Meeting was held by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment in Ankara within the scope of the promotion event of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Tourism stakeholders from the TRNC also participated in the meeting with agencies and tour operators in Ankara.

Following a 2-hour meeting with tourism professionals, a reception was held to introduce the specialities of Cyprus. TRNC Prime Minister Ersin Tatar and Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay also attended the reception.

Highly productive meetings and promotional events were launched in Turkey’s capital of Ankara  and an active market promotion policy in Turkey is continuing.

Stating that they organized this meeting in order to achieve the targeted levels of tourism in the country in 2020, Üstel stated that they wanted to raise awareness by promotion and hopefully eliminate the decline experienced in 2019.

Following the opening speech of the Minister of Tourism and Environment Ünal Üstel, the meeting commenced.

During the meeting, which lasted about 2 hours, Minister Üstel listened to the problems, opinions and suggestions of the sector representatives one by one and answered their questions.

Many agencies and tour operators from Ankara and the region attended the meeting and exchanged ideas to improve the destination of Northern Cyprus.

Minister Üstel called on the agencies to move Northern Cyprus to the forefront of tourism and to the Anatolian people to market Northern Cyprus ahead of marketing foreign countries.

Stating that Cyprus is the most valuable island among the islands of the Mediterranean region, Üstel said that everyone should see Northern Cyprus at least once to discover the beauty and culture of the island.

Üstel referred to the closed city of Maras and made statements about the inventory work being carried out by the TRNC government, following which there will be an idea of bringing tourism to the region.
