A comprehensive inspection of public transport and rental vehicles was carried out at Ercan Airport between 17:00 to 20:00 on Friday 6th September 2019  with the participation of the inspectors of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation and police officers of the PGM Traffic Branch.

Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan and Traffic Department Manager Ahmet Aydın stated that from the beginning to the end of the period, a large number of vehicles were inspected. During the inspections, numerous penalties were imposed related to operating permits, lack of professional driving licence, not opening taxometer, illegal transportation, navigation retardation and similar offences, a rental vehicle was also banned from traffic use by the police due to lack of documents.

Minister Atakan emphasised that the inspections will continue to increase and that these inspections will be carried out on almost every route and region without prior notification weekday or weekend.

  1. Well done, but isnt it about time the Transportation committee and Police carried out checks on drivers usung their mobile phones whilst driving, thats the biggest danger on the roads in TRNC at present and would increase revenues considerably with heavy fines !

  2. This is a positive move. Hopefully it will help towards reducing road deaths and serious accidents
    Only people who do not folks the letter of the law have anything to worry about
