Within the framework of his contacts in Ankara, Tourism and Environment Minister Unal Üstel, travelled to the Republic of Turkey to meet with Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and also paid a visit to the TRNC Embassy in Ankara.

The Minister was welcomed by TRNC Ankara Ambassador Kemal Köprülü and the members of the Embassy.  Üstel made statements to the press about his visit to Ankara.

This was the first official visit following his Ministerial position, and Turkey’s Culture and Tourism Minister, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, said that besides being a courtesy visit, views on cooperation and improvements would be made in the name of tourism.

Minister Üstel said his visit to Turkey also included an exchange of views with Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, related to promotional activities launched in Turkey on the creation of areas of cooperation.

He added “Our country is an island. At the same time, our country is both a tourism island and an education island, but unfortunately, we have great problems in transportation”.  He also said there are alternatives being worked on with various ministries in order to eliminate the problems in transportation and that they carry out a number of technical studies especially in order to avoid high price applications for air tickets and that these studies would be discussed during the visit.

Tourism and Environment Minister Unal Üstel also said that the TRNC are aware of the particular attention given to TRNC institutions, especially by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and the Government of Turkey.

Minister Üstel also conveyed a message of condolence to those who lost their lives due to the flood disaster in Düzce, Istanbul and wished that this type of pain would not be repeated again.
