Minister of Tourism and Environment Ünal Üstel visited the Mayor of Girne, Nidai Güngördü. During the visit, the Minister was accompanied by Undersecretary Mustafa Erişmen and Batu Beyit, Director of Private Office.
Speaking during the visit, Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü expressed his satisfaction with the visit of Minister Üstel and gave information about the city’s interest in tourism. Güngördü said “I think that the current government will apparently be long-lasting and that you will do good things.
Stating that as the Municipality of Girne, they want to contribute to the country’s tourism both on the subject of the ancient harbour of Girne and environmental cleanliness and arrangements are ready to use the possibilities of the Municipality, Güngördü said.
Ünal Üstel stated that he made his first visit to Girne Municipality and emphasized the importance of Girne for the country’s tourism. He stated that our country is beautiful with its hotels, boutique hotels and pensions in Girne and there were enough joint projects in order to make the city stand out.
Saying that the Ministry has some projects relating to Girne Antique Harbour, Üstel said that they are willing to work in cooperation with the Municipality to eliminate the debris in the port.
Explaining that a big traffic problem, starting from the east and continuing to the west, also continues in Girne, Üstel said that he had met with the Minister of Transport and discussed necessary steps to relieve the Karaoğlanoğlu, Lapta and Çatalköy regions in respect of traffic issues.
