A very BIG Thank you from all of the KAR cats and dogs to Slimming World Catalkoy

They have raised a fantastic 2300TL for KAR.

Their support is so very much appreciated and the money is so needed – especially now that the summer heat has hit. Many people maybe do not realise that the center is not on mains water – every drop that we use (for cleaning, animal drinking, etc) has to come up in tankers – what a lot it costs us every couple of days!

Thank you slimmers – your loss is KAR’s gain.

Bara Brith

8 oz/200g Sultanas
8 oz/200g Self Raising Flour
4 oz/100g Demerara Sugar

Leave to cool a little, add the beaten egg and flour and mix well.
Put in a greased 2lb/900g loaf tin
Bake at 325 F /160 C /Gas mark 2 for 1 – 1¼hours
Allow to cool and remove from the tin

Comments from new volunteers at the centre

I recently had the privilege to help out at KAR (Kyrenia Animal Rescue at Arapkoy). The dedication of the entire team is incredible. Bearing in mind with nearly 300 dogs, 10 puppies and 44 cats. All pens are bleached, cleaned and hosed down daily. Dogs and cats fed. Clean water, treats and toys. The work involved is a huge task and costs over 40, 000TL per month.

This month alone they had over 100 visitors and 230 dogs walked. People from all over including residents and holidaymakers walk the dogs, donate, sponsor and rehome these lovely animals.

Anyone can go up to the centre between 9.00am and 1.00pm to walk dogs or just visit to talk to the dogs. They have recently built a lovely safe enclosure where you can take the dogs in a shady area to play.

KAR also desperately need more volunteers to help out at the reception centre. If you have just 4 hours a week this would be a great help to the centre.

I feel honoured to have met with the lovely people who come up to visit and walk dogs and to work with such loving caring people.

RED is 6/7 weeks old

Red is still waiting,  and will be vaccinated and neutered by KAR.
