Nidai Güngördü, Mayor of Girne, participated in the Socialist Municipal Workshop organized by the Local Administration Research Aid and Education Association (YAYED) at ITU in Ankara.
In the workshop, Nidai Güngördü, Chairman of YAYED Prof.Dr. Dr. Birgül Ayman Güler, YAYED Secretary Serhat Salihoğlu, Prof.Dr. Dr. Dr. Can Hamamcı and Dr. Ali Sonel gave speeches. The speakers gave examples from Bergama and Hekimhan Municipalities and explained their experiences.
Mayor Güngördü talked about the history of local government in Cyprus and Girne Municipality. Güngördü stated that they had organized the Girne City Congress to ensure the participation of the citizens in the city administration because they had adopted a people-oriented working system that values citizens, and gave examples from the Girne-Catalkoy Zoning Plan and Girne Traffic Transportation Master Plan. Güngördü, said that they closely follow the work of local governments in Turkey.
