By Richard Beale ……….

Last Sunday 9th June at Sea Breeze Restaurant, Kücük Erenköy, 3,570TL was raised at the monthly table top sale, the proceeds donated to Taşkent Nature Park to help towards the vital work they carry out.

The event was organised by Claire Lamb and was well attended with various stalls selling cakes, greeting cards, clothes, and general bric-a-brac.

Mr Martin Marancos, General Coordinator, from Taşkent Nature Park was in attendance talking to interested parties about the work done by the Nature Park.

WHAT WORK TO THEY UNDERTAKE? :

TNP is a privately funded, non-profit organisation initially set up to create awareness of wildlife and nature conservation in the TRNC. it cares and treats injured and sick animals brought to the Park to rehabilitate and then hopefully return them to the wild. It has a hospital and research laboratories to study the animals.

WHERE IS IT? : Taşkent is near Lefkoşa, a village at the foot of the Beşparmak Mountains, quite near the TRNC flag that dominates the area. There is a 30 dönüm picnic area and the Panayia Absinthiotisse Monastery.  A Restaurant with stunning views of the Park, the Mountains and Lefkoşa has recently been opened. These attractions are well worth a visit just by themselves.

The Nature Park is not a zoo, if you wish to visit and see the work carried out by Nature Park, then arranged visits can be organised. (contact Martin Marincos on 0548 811 1186.}

You will be asked to make a donation to the Park.

Finally a big thank you to everyone who attended the event, all the helpers and especially to Claire who organised it. Thank you to Mehmet, Claire and all the staff at Sea Breeze Restaurant for their attentive service.
