Girne Municipality Theater Studio (GIBETSU) will perform the stage play The Prisoner of Second Avenue by Neil Simon which is directed by Nermin Uğur.
The play will be performed at Beyarmudu Social Facilities on Saturday 25th May at 20.30 for the 5th Mesarya Theater Festival organised by the Beyarmudu Municipality.
Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü, said The Prisoner of Second Avenue is one of the world’s most important theatre plays and he thanked the director, Nermin Uğur and the GIBETSU artists who appear in the play, and wished them well with the performance.
Derman Atik, Artistic Director of Girne Municipality, said that the play is a comic tragedy dealing with lifestyle and change. Derman Atik said despite the lack of copyright laws in the TRNC royalties in respect of the play have been paid to Onkar Agencies in Turkey.
The play is directed by Nermin Ugur and appearing are Cenk Gurcag, Ilyur Varoglu Atik, Mehmet Soyluoglu, Ayleta Futsi, Serife Eminaga, Aysen Rahvancioglu, Sevil Birben Sargin, Derman Atik, Perihan Hulusioglu, Dilek Seçkin and Fethi Ercan. Fatma Tüney and Perihan Hulusioğlu appear in the play and also take on the role of co-directors.
Other names in the play are as follows; Light Design and Light Application – Mehmet Saygıer, Decor Design – Derman Atik, Decor Application – Levent Korol and Celal Onat, Music and Musical Effect Application – Evren Mercimekçi.
