Saturday March 23 : Under 21 Super League : Esentepe Erdal Barut Stadium.
Esentepe youngsters pulled off another good win thanks to an injury time goal from EMRE MUTLU.
Esentepe, who some weeks cannot fulfil their fixtures due to first team call ups, are now in seventh position in what is a very difficult League. This is a remarkable achievement with limited resources Coach Gokan Kim has achieved miracles to get the team where they are now.
Esentepe should have won by a bigger margin, especially in the first half when they missed at least five gilt edge chances. This was either wasteful finishing or the Cihangir goalkeeper Hasancal making a couple of fine saves.
The warm spring sunshine took its toll on both teams as they tired in the second half which was pretty uneventful.
With the match going into 4 minutes of added on time Esentepe’s most experienced player EMRE MUTLU received the ball just outside the box, looked up, took aim and fired an unstoppable shot into the net
Esentepe were very sound defensively and debutant goalkeeper Ulaş Ibeyi had little to do.
I thought Esentepe “man of the Match’ was ISMET GÜNES, an unsung midfielder who got through a helluva lot of work on a warm day.
