On the occasion of 21st March World Poetry Day, Girne Municipality, will be honouring Researcher, Writer and Poet Neriman Cahit, one of the important names of Turkish Cypriot Literature, and Folklore Writer and Poet Mahmut İslamoglu, with a poetry and music concert.
The event will take place on Thursday, 21st March at 19:30 in Girne Grand Pasha Hotel. At the event, a visual presentation will be made about the lives of Neriman Cahit and Mahmut Islamoglu, which has been prepared with the contribution of the Union of Turkish Cypriot Authors and Poets.

Neriman Cahit; She was well known in the field of literature, women’s rights activist, journalist and teacher. Nidai Güngördı stated that Cahit, who has published many books and won many awards, has been deemed worthy of a ”Lifetime Achievement Award” by the ”Humanist International and Cambridge International Biography Centre.
Mahmut İslamoğlu, Folklore writer and Poet, best promotes our culture and our country in international congresses, seminars and symposiums and has received many awards. Güngördü pointed out that Islamoğlu, who is also a teacher, is the first honorary doctorate writer in the field of folklore in Cyprus and that he has created many literary utterances and narratives which have been forgotten.
Güngördü, invited all literary lovers to participate in the event in honour of Cahit and İslamoğlu.
