By Richard Beale …….

A brace of goals by Esentepe Nigerian winger EFOSA FRANCIS made it 6 points out of 6 and lifted Esentepe out of the automatic relegation places into 14th position, their highest since mid October of last year.

Result : ESENTEPE KKSK 2 BAF ÜLKÜ YURDU 0

With the Under 21 team winning as well, again it’s a very happy Esentepe Village, smiles on peoples faces and believe it or not the sun is out!

It was a very confident team performance by Esentepe who had plenty of possession and at times it was like watching Manchester City play (well maybe I am getting a bit carried away) as the team were stroking the ball around as if they were the league leaders.

Baf Ülkü Yurdu (BUY) were a disappointment, they I understand have had some “in house” problems this week, with several players staging a boycott and missing training. I think the Coach was unable to field his strongest team, BUY were there for the taking an Esentepe took full advantage of this.

Esentepe gambled on the fitness of their leading goalscorer Junior who has a hamstring problem, understandably he was not at his sharpest, but appears to have got through the match with any further damage.

Little was seen of the BUY attack which was led by the giant 6ft 4ins Hafiz, an Esentepe defence well marshalled by Mustafa Kiliç and Hasan Sungur restricted the Nigerian forward to only two chances.

MATCH NOTES :

4 mins : Hafiz was put through inside the Esentepe box, but before he could get a shot away he was thwarted by a Mustafa Kilic challenge.

8 mins : Esentepe hit the woodwork when a free kick from Mahmut found the head of teenager Şükrü whose header deflected off a defender and bounced onto the BUY post before being cleared. HALF TIME SCORE : 0-0

49 mins : Esentepe were rewarded for their enterprising display when they took the lead with a marvellous engineered goal. Kaan on the right, did a clever back heel to the overlapping Mahmut who sent over a beautiful laden cross finding EFOSA FRANCIS who sent a bullet header into the net. 1-0.

55 mins : Esentepe Vurkan who was having a magnificent match, broke up a BUY attack and made progress forward before finding Junior on his right. The Cameroon striker looked up and sent an angle drive that flew just over the bar.

65 mins: BUY had their best chance of the match to equalise when Hasan Bucak made a good run down the left and sent over a nice cross that Mustafa Kiliç just got the faintest of touches to that prevented Hafiz the opportunity of a header. The tall Nigerian recovered the ball and with Onur the Esentepe goalkeeper coming out to narrow the angle he shot over the bar from a good position.

87 mins : Esentepe made the game safe with another well worked goal. Ahmet who had been prominent in midfield since coming on in the 78th minute, won the ball in midfield and passed forward to Şükrü, who for one so young showed marvellous judgement by stepping over the ball leaving EFOSA FRANCIS a clear run at goal and he buried his shot into the net. 2-0

90 mins : Ahmet almost got onto the scoresheet himself playing a 1-2 with Efosa, he got in a shot that was deflected just wide of the goal. FULL TIME SCORE: 2-0

UĞURCAN on the ball and all smiles as EFOSA FRANCIS celebrates his goal.

SUMMING UP : Well done team, well done Coach Hüseyin, two successive wins have installed confidence into the team. The team have proved they ain’t going to roll over in this tough league, they are nobody’s whipping boys.
