The Social Services Club of European University of Lefke, recently started a campaign which is aimed at adults. The campaign emphasises the need of listening to the children. The club members, distributed brochures which provides details of dealing with children.
The students, also distributed small gifts among the children.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Özgür Bayır, who is in charge of this campaign stated that there is great need to make adults understand the necessity of listening to the children. The pamphlets included information on Child neglect and abuse. She said that child neglect and abuse, which is called child 
maltreatment, is a traumatic event that can affect lifelong, both in the short and long term, the mental health of the individual, causing traumatic stress disorders and problems in school and career life.
Bayır also said that “This project aims to contribute and draw attention to the child neglect and abuse issue” and added that the aim is to increase the knowledge level of families and to increase the awareness of the district by giving information about the neglect and abuse of children by contacting the parents especially in the region of Lefke.
