The first round matches of the Kibris Cup were played last weekend. All Super League teams are automatically drawn against League 1 sides, therefore the competition is heavily loaded in favour of the elite Super League clubs.
But being the Cup as we know from the English FA Cup ( Millwall and Wimbledon) there is always a chance of an upset. Three League 1 clubs did their giant killing bit by knocking out 3 Super League Clubs.
On Saturday Düzkaya from Catalköy beat Lefkoşa side Çetinkaya 3-1. On Sunday Yonpaş Dumlupinar from Famagusta beat Merit Alsancak 3-1 and Ozanköy beat Gönyeli 1-0.
The draw for the second round will take place this Friday February 1st.
