Samsun Art Theater staged a theatre play entitled Kuvayi Milliye Destani (National Forces Epic) which took place at the Girne Municipality Chamber Theatre.
The epic was written by Nazım Hikmet and directed and acted by Yaşar Gündem The event was attended by the Commander of Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces, Major General Yılmaz Yıldırım, Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü and theatre lovers.
Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü in his speech at the end of the performance said that during the War of Independence it was a very difficult period for the people of Anatolia, and Nazim Hikmet had written his epic very well. He congratulated Yaşar Gündem for his spectacular performance.
The Mayor pointed out the importance of solidarity, and said that hard days can be overcome only in this way. At the end of his speech Güngördü expressed his thanks to the Samsun Art Theatre for staging the play.
