By Roland Eyerich ….

In mid-December the band “The Great Flood” a local Blues & Rock n Roll Band was once again the guests in Alsancak in the “Small Music Hall” to present their show.

The Soulist Coffee & Music House has set itself the task of giving local artists a stage with live music events to perform their music.

After their album release “So Far So Good” in August, they presented a new program with a mix of well-known Blues, Blues/Rock, RocknRoll and rock numbers. There was a small highlight in the second set, where a female singer who is a music student of Kaan Batural (Frontman of The Great Flood) gave a performance.

The framework for their music is the music of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Chuck Berry, B.B. King, Robben Ford, Eric Clapton and Joe Bonamassa. It’s always a pleasure to experience this 3-piece band with the Brothers Batural, Kaan Batural (Guitar + Vocal) and Altan Batural (Bass + Harmonica) and drummer Ulaş Öğüç live. “Force and Power” describes the performance always but especially this night ….

With Steve Ray Vaughan … Little Sister, the performance started the evening. The energy and power was already felt … and it was only the beginning of the show

Kaan always with a lot of energy and a tuned rhythm section .. Ulas Öğüç on drums Alan Batural on bass. It was the Texas Blues feeling that came over – good groove and a steaming rhythm always. This quality kept The Great Flood going until the end of their performance. A special exclamation mark was Ulas with his drum performance, whether RocknRoll by Led Zepelin, Hound Dog (Elvis) the SRV Couldn’t Stand the Weather or the Roadhouse Blues of the Doors. It was just great. Hey and what a “Hard to Handle (Otis Redding)” excellent!

Kaan on vocals and guitar and his brother Altan on bass were also so convincing. They noticed how much fun they were having that evening and their very varied Set List picked up the audience.

Then the small highlight of the show with female singer Nisan Beyaz, a pupil of Kaan Batural. She performed 3 songs with Kaan. It was an acoustic set with Kaan on acoustic guitar and Nisan with vocals. Particularly noteworthy is her Sam Brown cover version “Stop” …… Wow ….

With Muddy Waters Babe Please Don`t Go, Chuck Berry’s Johnny B Goode and the Roadhouse Blues of the Doors ended the great tide with a great show in The Soulist.
