Yıldırım: “The uncompromising attitude of the Greek Cypriot side puts the solution into a difficult situation”

Speaking at the 11th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Yıldırım also touched upon the Cyprus issue and said that establishing peace between the two communities is indispensable in terms of ensuring security in the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, the uncompromising attitude of the Greek Cypriot side in the island puts the solution into a difficult situation.

Nami calls COMCEC to “deepen economic relations with TRNC”

Minister of Economy and Energy Özdil Nami attended the 34th OIC Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) meeting in İstanbul.

34th Ministerial Session of the COMCEC meeting entitled “Facilitation of Trade: “Risk Management in Customs” was held under the presidency of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Speaking at the COMCEC Ministerial Session, Nami called the COMCEC member states to deepen their economic relations with the TRNC.

Nami, who conveyed a summary of the development of the Cyprus negotiations, stressed that the United Nations need to show will for a timetable and solution-oriented negotiation process that will change the current status quo. Nami requested the COMCEC member countries to support this issue.

Nami also touched upon the issue of natural gas and stated that the energy issue should be structured in a manner to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the related parties. In contrast, he indicated that unilateral steps could lead to undesirable tensions in the region, adding that the Turkish Cypriot side continues to be ready for cooperation with the Greek Cypriot side and other interested parties.

Ataoğlu attends International Resort Congress in Antalya

The Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu attended as a speaker at the 8th International Resort Tourism Congress organized in Antalya by Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association MTHA and made a statement about the tourism of the country.

Addressing the congress entitled “Tourism of the Future, Future of the Tourism”, Ataoğlu said that the TRNC currently has a bed capacity of 25,000 and 1,142 million tourists had visited the TRNC last year resulting in a revenue of 865 million dollars.

Ataoğlu stated that the TRNC is a country with an increasing tourism potential every year, and the annual occupancy rate for 5-star hotels in the country stood at an average of 85%.

Çeler met with Laurance

Labour and Social Security Minister Zeki Çeler travelled to Burkina Faso to attend the conference on the role of women in the member countries of the Islamic Cooperation Organization.

Çeler met with his counterpart, Marchal Laurance, who is the Minister for Women’s Affairs, National Solidarity and Family Affairs of the country.

The two ministers exchanged views on the role of women in their own countries and how it could be improved. Çeler will deliver a speech at the 7th Ministerial Conference to begin today (30th November).
