Hasan Kömürcügil became the first Turk to attend IEEE’s Editors Meeting

Prof. Dr. Hasan Kömürcügil, of the Department of Computer Engineering Faculty, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Engineering, is editing  “IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics” and “IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics” magazines incorporated by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

According to the Press release issued by the Eastern Mediterranean University, being the only Turkish editor responsible for two magazines, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kömürcügil represented EMU during the meeting held in Washington between October 21st and 23rd 2018.  Especially, the “IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics” magazine holds the first place among other magazines published in the industrial electronics field and the Impact Factor within the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).

The 44th Annual Conference on Industrial Electronics (IECON2018) was also held on the same dates. Over 1500 scientists from around the world delivered presentations and exchanged information during the conference. Prof. Dr. Hasan Kömürcügil delivered two presentations entitled ‘Multilevel Inverter Control for Distributed Energy Production Systems’ and ‘Sliding Mode Control for the Grid Interactive quasi-Z- Sourced Inverter’, and moderated a panel. Both presentations were written and presented in accordance with the findings of related ongoing doctoral studies at EMU.

  1. Congratulations to Dr. Kömürcügil. This is indeed a great honor. I must have been the first Turkish Cypriot to publish a research paper in IEEE, back in 1982. I still remember how happy I was when received their acceptance letter. Looking forward to hearing more success stories and achievements like these.
