To kick off the 2018-19 season in North Cyprus, five of the University teams will be competing in a Rugby 10s Tournament at the Mayis 19 Stadium in Kyrenia (not far from Elektrokur, near Perfect Garden, Garden Centre).
The tournament will start at 11am on Sunday 28th October 2018 and it is hoped that this will be the precursor of much more rugby here during the coming season. With that in mind if anyone has any rugby ‘skills’ they wish to keep honed – playing, coaching, refereeing, administrating etc – please get in touch with Ian Fell on 0533 8694463 or email ianfell@hotmail.co.uk
There are currently five Universities who have Rugby listed as a sport, if any further Universities would like to start organising a team, again please get in touch. Another contact locally – and Turkish speaker – is Emir Songur on 0548 851 0079
We would also invite any non-university players who may wish to play whilst here to get in touch, it may well be possible to organise a ‘Barbarians’ team for the above event.
