This was Esentepe’s third friendly match of the season and once again they used the game as an opportunity to look at some more “trialists” in this match, seven players were looked at. This week Esentepe signed three of last weeks “trialists” – Nigerian striker Henry Chibueze, defender Eren Meral and midfielder Canadian/Cypriot Edis.

Considering the number of trialists and substitutions this was a highly satisfying victory for Esentepe. They were the better team for most of the first half and for long periods of the second half dominated the match.

‘Pancho” Burak Tümkan, Man of the Match, scored one goal and made another.

Ozanköy who were relegated from the Super League after only one season, are themselves rebuilding their team. After taking the lead midway in the first half they had a “purple patch” and missed some glorious chances and should have scored at least twice more in that period.

Esentepe had a number of chances to take the lead in the opening 20 minutes, with trialist Nathan in a great position, close in shot wide. New striker Odi brought the Ozanköy keeper into action with a low shot from just outside the box. He then sent an angled shot just wide after a good run from Uğurcan.

Ozanköy then had their “purple patch, with Esentepe keeper Hüseyin doing well to make a double save from close in. In the 28th minute following an Ozanköy corner from the right a flick was deflected off Esentepe’s Uğurcan into his own net. 1-0.

Ozanköy star striker Bekir then shot over the bar with the goal at his mercy, then another effort by him brought a good save from Hüseyin.

Esentepe were denied an equaliser when the Ozanköy goalkeeper produced a point blank range save from a header from Nathan. However they did equalise in the 44th minute from the resulting corner. ODI scored his first Esentepe goal heading in Edis corner. 1-1

At half time Esentepe made numerous changes and again introduced more trialists.

The Ozanköy goalkeeper was keeping his side in the game as Esentepe dominated the second half. He produced good saves from Başak and twice from Ahmet Karal.

Esentepe then introduced BURAK “Pancho” in the 70th minute and almost immediately he made an impact. In the 81st minute he started the move on the left, played a one-two with Yakup and slotted the ball home to give Esentepe the lead. 1-2

In the 87th minute Esentepe sealed the win with Burak putting over a long deep cross from the left where his elder brother BAŞAK met it with a looping header which sailed over the Ozanköy keeper and into the net. 1-3.

All in all a very satisfactory performance and good entertainment provided by both teams.
