Publishing news of events and things to do, we are always surprised to come across another opportunity to meet people and share time together and in this article we are telling our local readers about Salsa dancing.

Wikipedia tells us that Salsa is a popular form of social dance that originated in the Caribbean. The movements of salsa have origins in Puerto Rican bomba and plena, Cuban Son, cha-cha-cha, mambo and other dance forms.

The dance, along with salsa music, originated in the mid-1970s in New York and different regions of Latin America and the United States have distinct salsa styles of their own, such as Cuban, Puerto Rican, Cali Colombia, L.A. and New York styles.

So if our local readers would like to learn Salsa then do go along to Kozi Sports Complex, Lapta Sahıl Yürüyüş, Girne where they hold classes on Monday evenings at 6.00pm – to 7.30pm and Thursday morning from 9.00am to 10.00am for beginners.

Everyone welcome from beginners and intermediate dancers and all participants will have the opportunity of attending the Salsa Jam at the Cyprus festival in September. Call 0533 875 3085 for more information.
