Hot on the trail of their latest successful pantomime in late November 2017 several members of the RBL Theatre Players have now turned their attention to the next production scheduled to take place at the Gökay Boğaçhan Kültür Merkezi Theatre in Alsancak in June.

Director Jan Marsh explained: “It has been a few years since I brought a spring play to the stage and many of you will likely remember ‘Allo ‘Allo’, ‘The Amorous Ambassador’, and ‘Sailor Beware’ which brought great hilarity to audiences. This time our farce focuses on the day in the life of Bernard, a bachelor who thought he could have his cake and eat it. ‘Boeing! Boeing!’ which was written by Marc Camoletti then translated by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans, was first presented at the Apollo Theatre, London in February 1962, and in New York City Court Theatre in February 1965. It was revived in February 2007 at the Comedy Theatre in London’s West End and later on Broadway in 2008.”

She continued: “Rehearsals are in progress for this non-stop comedy and I am delighted with the team spirit and hard work that is being put in by the dedicated cast in order to bring you this extremely funny show which will delight adult audiences of both gender. We are grateful for Vicki Karaca for allowing us the use of the Black Olive Café for rehearsals. The farce is set in Paris in the 1960’s in an apartment close to Orly airport where Bernard believes he has the perfect bachelor life… whatever could go wrong?”

The cast includes Paul Jones, John and Julia Bennett, Gemini Clements, Jean Bradley and KADS Producer Beverley Westbrook who will be working with the Theatre Players for the first time since ‘Allo ‘Allo’ in 2010. The confirmed dates for the 3 night run are Thursday 7, Friday 8 and Saturday 9 June with doors open at 6.30pm for curtain up at 7pm. Reservations are 40TL and you can collect tickets daily from the Bestseller Bookshops in Karakum and Alsancak or via the RBL stall on Saturday mornings at the Lambousa market.
