Local Pay is a new generation payment system customized for its customers by Creditwest Bank, which enables fast, easy and secure shopping through the application on the mobile phones, even if they don’t have cash or credit card! Local Pay is the very first mobile payment system of Northern Cyprus developed by Creditwest Bank software engineers.
The launching event of Local Pay application was held on Friday, April 6, 2018, with a press meeting at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Nicosia. Local Pay member enterprises, press and Creditwest Bank authorities and representatives attended the event.
Nusret Altınbaş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Creditwest Bank; Mazher Zaheer, General Manager of Creditwest Bank; İbrahim Turgut, Deputy General Manager responsible for Information Systems; Gizem Olgu, Information Systems Software Manager; Oğuz Somuncuoğlu, Information Systems Software Specialist gave presentations and speeches at the press meeting of Local Pay technology which was introduced with a demonstration.
Şerife Komut, Alternative Distribution Channels Expert explained the system in her presentation and demonstrated a real-time payment.

Local Pay application downloaded via Appstore and Google Play, enables fast and easy payments from 
TL or foreign currency accounts of Creditwest Bank customers during shopping. There are nearly 200 stores including grocery stores, restaurants, flower shops, electronic shops, DIY stores, petrol stations and hairdressers in the payment system from different regions of Northern Cyprus and there are no additional charges for customers or enterprises for the payment activity. Member businesses are increasing day by day and establishing the very first mobile payment ecosystem in Northern Cyprus.
In addition, customers earn Local points while spending and can spend their accumulated points as money. Until June, users who download and use Local Pay application will be given 50 TL worth of points.
MAZHER ZAHEER: PAYMENT TRENDS WILL COMPLETELY CHANGE AND DIGITAL PURSES WILL BECOME PREVALENT
Mazher Zaheer, General Manager of Creditwest Bank, stated in his opening speech that two years ago 
Creditwest Bank set significant goals towards its Digital Banking mission to become a leader and has developed many products and applications, and made a significant progress.
Zaheer stated that in the near future, mobile payment systems will change the payment trends and habits completely and that digital purses will become widespread and will lead to a cash-free structure in a long-term.
Mazher Zaheer, General Manager of Creditwest Bank, said that their aim is to expand this digital ecosystem in Cyprus, contribute to the economy of the country and become a software exporting country in the future. Zaheer, also explained that they are expecting support from the society and from all sectors.

Gizem Olgu, Information Systems Software Manager of Creditwest Bank, stated that as the Information Technologies team, which consists of 13 people and 3 different 
sub-teams, they started their digital banking activities 2 years ago that was tailored according to the needs of the Cypriot people.
Olgu stated that, while designing the application, they focused on developing a user-friendly and secure application, and added that all transactions are under bank security and they do security tests to the application on a regular basis.
