Under the “Tin Child project” initiated to contribute to children’s departments in hospitals, a sorting and compressing of tin cans event was organized in Girne.

Tin and aluminium cans were collected by the Greenpeace Movement and sorted and compressed by volunteers and employees of Girne Municipality in the scope of the “Tin Child Project” which is supported by the Municipality of Girne.   The aim of the project is to contribute to the purchase of equipment required for children’s departments in hospitals, from the income from the compressed tin cans.

Güngördü: Re-use and acquisition are important

Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü stated that they had placed collection containers in various places in the city in the context of the project. Nidai Güngördü called on everyone in the world to support the project by pointing out that recycling is of great importance in the world.  Güngördü stated that they will carry out training and awareness studies on re-use and recovery.

Sahir: Recycling must be a way of life

Doğan Sahir, President of the Greenpeace Movement, participated in the event and thanked everyone who contributed to the project by reminding them that they started the project in order to raise environmental awareness and make recycling a lifestyle.
