By Peri Sualp…….

I have a pretty amazing uncle, and I would like to share with you his recent successes with his companies.

My uncle, Mustafa Sualp, is the founder, CEO and servant leader of two companies in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. AEFIS in Assessment Management Platform for universities; and Untra Corporation a technology consulting firm.

After growing up in sunny Cyprus, he moved to the United States following high-school for his university education. As a serial technology entrepreneur, he established his first business, Untra Corporation in 1999 prior to graduating from university. He has nurtured it to a thriving technology consulting firm. Under his leadership, Untra Corporation became one of the SBA’s Emerging 200 (E200) companies in 2008. Untra was also recognized as one of the fastest growing, privately held companies in 2009 and again in 2017 by the reputable Philadelphia 100® list published by Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Business Journal.

He started his next venture, AEFIS in 2012 to provide institutions of higher education a practical software solution to help ease the pains associated with assessment and accreditation. In 2016, AEFIS was recognized as the 81st fastest growing, privately held company by the Philadelphia 100. He was the original architect of the Assessment, Evaluation, Feedback and Intervention System—AEFIS, which was developed in close collaboration with his colleagues and academic partners at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.

In January of this year, AEFIS was highlighted as one of “Five Ed-Tech companies to watch” by Eduventures, a well known research and think-tank organization for educational technology. Given short time he and his team have been working on building and growing AEFIS, this is a pretty big accomplishment. To read the full article click here.

Turk Maarif Kolleji

One of the notable projects Untra worked on was with Mustafa’s high-school, Turk Maarif Kolleji (TMK). There, Mustafa had the great opportunity to work with his long term mentor and current headmaster, Fehmi Tokay. Funded by a EU grant, the project entailed setup of servers and other infrastructure to launch Moodle Learning Management Platform for all student and teachers complete with campus wide wireless for the first time. Fehmi Tokay was one of most influential mentors during Mustafa’s years at TMK, who was the Computer Teacher at the time. Fehmi Tokay’s favorite story from those days is one where Mustafa and his friends would come by his house at odd times to borrow the computer lab key when the school was closed.

I am proud of my uncle because he worked hard to be successful in the path he has chosen. And as far as I understand nothing comes easy. He always says “in the end, if you are passionate about what you do, success follows”. For now he plans to continue growing and achieving further success with AEFIS. Being a huge animal lover, at some point in the future he wants to start his next company in low-tech (instead of high-tech) and to do with animals. A huge Star Wars fan and someone who always like to have fun, he ends his professional biography on LinkedIn with this line: “And yes, I am with the resistance…”
