The short film “In the Shadow of Cedar”, about the story of the immigration of Turkish Cypriots, was selected as a semi-finalist at the San Mauro Torinese International Film Festival, which will take place in Torino, the capital of Italy’s Piedmont region, on the 23-25 May 2018.
The film is dedicated to all Turkish Cypriot families because of the 100th anniversary of the migration of the Turkish Cypriots. The leading actors of the film are Şafak Yolcu, Sıtkiye Sevgüm, Batuhan Nihat Cerit and Nehir Hasipoğlu.
“In the Shadow of Cedar” was screened in many countries last year. The film won an award in Turkey and was also selected as a semi-finalist at Bushman Film Festival held in Abidjan, the largest city in the Ivory Coast.
The film’s director, Müge Günay, expressed her happiness that the film was selected as a semi-finalist in the film festival, and said that she would continue to work with the same sensitivity in order for her new film, which she is planning to make in April, to be as successful.
