By Engin Dervişağa…….

I am delighted together with my colleague Qossay Eleyan to bring you our interesting report on “Discovering North Cyprus” from the Turunçlu Mosque, also known as Turunçlu Fethiye Mosque which s a mosque in Kadinlar Pazari Sokak in the Iplik Bazaar–Korkut Effendi quarter in the walled city of Lefkosa.

Before the 19th century, a small masjid or mosque stood  here and  in 1825, Seyyit Mehmed Agha, the governor of Cyprus, had the mosque built in the place of the masjid. Historically, the mosque was known as Fethiye Mosque and was located at the Mertek Market.

This show will be transmitted on BRT2 on Monday 15th January at 19.00pm and repeated on Thursday 18th January at 19.50pmThis programme was edited with Turkish subtitles by Kut Adali
