Recently the Near East University conducted a conference regarding the Freedom of the Press. This conference was organised as part of the 6th International Media workshop, by the Radio, TV and Cinema departments of the University. Dr. Rona Aybay took part as a speaker.
Dr. Aybay told the participants that the Article 10 regulates the freedom of the press under the framework of the European Convention. This article on one side provides freedom to express the views on one side but, at the same time, makes one a responsible citizen to be very careful while utilising this right. One must use this right with extreme precaution to protect the personal rights of others and of maintaining the public order.
He made a lengthy speech full of important information regarding the background of the decisions taken by judiciaries and the European Courts of Human Rights.
Aybay made a speech full of lengthy and important information, based on the experience of International Judiciary and the various press decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
Associate Doctor Fevzi Kasap, head of the Radio, TV and Cinema department of the University explained the objects of organising this conference. He hoped that the members of the press would continue performing their duties for the benefit of the society.
