Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün has issued a statement in support of the final communique released by the OIC after its recent Extraordinary Summit that recognizes East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
He warned that Israel’s actions in the region threaten to undermine wider peace.
“If you declare Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move your Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, this decision by the OIC is a just and necessary response” said Prime Minister Özgürgün.
Reiterating that these latest developments pose a threat to regional stability, as well as peace in the Middle East and the whole world, the Prime Minister added, “I hope the US will correct its mistake and reverse its decision, and no more blood will be shed in the region.”
