Girne’s town centre shopping mall was ringing to the sound of reindeers’ bells as Santa came to town for the day last Sunday 10th December.
A weekend of activities culminated with approximately 150 children – and some adults! – having the opportunity of meeting Santa in his Grotto during his visit to the centre.
Santa’s visit was the end of a busy weekend for Girne Park AVM which had started on Friday evening with Zelis performing a full repertoire of songs for those hardy souls braving the evening’s cooler temperatures to listen to her performance. The following day saw an exhibition of Latin dance, before the weekend culminated with a chance for the children to let Santa know what they might like for a festive gift.
This coming weekend –December 15th to 17th – there is another full programme of entertainment commencing with Dilara Ferit and Orchestra performing at the centre on Friday at 6pm. Saturday sees Jazz music and children singing from 2pm and all weekend Pam Schofield will have her art on display and for sale adjacent to Santa’s Grotto. For the children, Santa himself will be returning to the centre on Sunday afternoon between 2pm and 5pm, a chance for photos to be taken for a small donation to a local children’s charity.
Entertainment will be continuing throughout the following weekends in December up to and including Saturday 30th – so make this an opportunity to be both entertained whilst browsing the shops in the Centre for those Christmas and New Year gifts.
