The 24th November is Teachers’ Day and Girne Mayor, Nidai Güngördü, made visits.
Mayor Nidai Güngördü visited Şht Hasan Cafer Elementary School and Anafartalar High School and also some retired teachers at their homes for the “24th November Teachers’ Day”. Nidai Güngördü presented flowers to celebrate Teachers’ Day to those who were on duty and those who were now retired.
The Mayor also attended Girne Anafartalar High School’s ceremony commemorating late teacher Saffet Özmenek who died in 2016.

Nidai Güngördü stated that teachers have a great responsibility in educating future generations and helping them to develop. Güngördü emphasized that together with the central government, local administrations should also be able to offer teachers contemporary education to train their students and improve their school infrastructures.
Güngördü, “On November 24th Teachers’ Day, I offer my most heartfelt gratitude to all our teachers who have performed a sacred and responsible profession. I wish for our teachers who have educated students with great sensitivity and sacrifice and who are now retired, a healthy, good and long lasting retirement.
