As I said in my prematch there are “plenty of goals” scored when these two teams meet. What happens a 0-0 draw, however I am happy with a point in this hard fought match between these two great rivals.

Result : DUMLUPINAR TSK 0 ESENTEPE KKSK 0

Sunday 12 November 2017: K-Pet League 1: Dr Fazil Küçük Stadı.

DUMLUPINAR TSK v ESENTEPE KKSK

I think for Esentepe this is a point gained whereas for Dumlupınar 2 points lost.

Esentepe Coach Davut Kansu plans for this match had to be changed as during the warm up Captain Başak had to withdraw from the match with a stiff neck. The Coach’s strategy was further disrupted after 10 minutes when midfielder İsmail Uçar was involved in a heavy collision, and was taken to Hospital clutching his collar bone.

A disappointing crowd of around 80 spectators with approximately 30 making the trip from Esentepe were present at the impressive Dr Fazil Küçük Stadium.

Toss up with referee SERDAR BİLGİMER wıth Dumlupınar Captain MEHMET FUAT and Esentepe Captain NERSIN OSMAN.

It was a rather uneventful first half with very few goal threats as both teams competed fiercely. Both goalkeepers had little to do apart from a few crosses to deal with. The best chances of the first half came in the final minute when firstly Esentepe goalkeeper Kemal bravely dived at the feet of Dumlupınar striker Hikmet after an opening had been made for him. The ball was immediately transferred up to the other end, where a long cross from Emre was misjudged by goalkeeper Oğuzhan, where behind him was Hasan Özçelik who got his head to the ball but it went wide . HALF TIME Score : 0-0.

Dumlupınar came close 3 minutes into the second half when Berke sent in a fierce shot from the left which Kemal beat away for a corner.

Yakup for Esentepe had a half chance bursting through but sent his shot wide.

Dumlupınar were beginning to come more and more into the match and for the first time the visitors were under pressure. They hit the bar from a fierce shot just outside the box from Mehmet, after Kemal and Nersin had got in each other’s way dealing with a cross.

66 mins : Substitute Charalampos shot weakly at goalkeeper Kemal following a cross from Berke.

Esentepe young defender Onur was struggling with an injury, as Esentepe had used all the three of their substitutes he was merely a limping passenger on the left. Ahmet filled in for him at left back but still found time to get upfield.

Substitute Başak tried his luck from just outside the box, sending a curling shot which was saved by Oğuzhan..

82 mins : Emre fouled Berke and was booked near the touchline just outside the box. This presented Dumlupınar a free kick in a dangerous position. Charalampos kick was met at the far post by defender Eray who headed just wide.

Dumlupınar best chance of the match came in the 88th minute when Berke put Ramazan clean through with only Kemal to beat. Somehow the substitute managed to slice his shot wide, the ball going horizontally to his right and out to the far right touchline – an incredible miss.

With 2 minutes of injury time being nearly up Esentepe nearly threw it away, when Nersin taking a free kick fluffed it to Ümit who outpaced Ahmet, but Kemal was equal to his effort flinging himself to his left to block the shot. FULL TIME Score : 0-0

SUMMING UP : A hard working team performance and a rich deserved point.

Esentepe plans were disrupted and they finished the match really with 10 men with Onur bravely fighting his injury. Both teams played a lone striker upfront both were dominated in the match, by strong defences.

For Dumlupınar Adem Ertem, their stocky midfield player was impressive in midfield and supporting Hikmet in attack, that is till he ran out of steam in the 62nd minute.

I would have given Nersin Esentepe “man of the match”, but his fluffed free kick near the end almost cost Esentepe dearly. Thankfully KEMAL was on top form again, and pipped Nersin for that accolade. Ahmet again was very impressive, plenty of energy and filled in well at the back when Onur was injured.
