Music on Fire at Bellapais Abbey

For this Vox Pop show, I went along with my camera crew to the Bellapais Abbey to record this year’s great Music on Fire musical extravaganza by Ateş and Diva which aimed to raise donations for the Kemal Saracoglu Foundation for Children with Leukemia and Cancer and A Clean Cyprus.
A visit to Bellapais Abbey is always a special treat and on this occasion we were not disappointed to find the stage decorated with props and great lighting with wispy smoke now and then creating that air of mystery as the performers came onto the stage with loud applause after each performance.
This wonderful show at Bellapais Abbey had been produced by Demetra George Mustafaoğlu with assistance from Hatice Salih Kerimgil and Ece Sualp 
and this was the fourth of the Ateş & Diva – Music on Fire concerts, the first being at the Abbey in 2016, the second at Pera Palas in Istanbul and the third in Kas in Turkey.
With Demetra was her good friend Nuri Harun Ateş, together with Demetra’s protégée Peri Sualp who gave outstanding performances. The artists were accompanied by Önder Cebeci on piano and Muhareem Cemoğlu violincello, and dancing by Evgenia Zhilskaya, with a surprise cameo appearance by Can Gazi of Bayrak Radio and Television.
Finally I had the opportunity to talk to our very own Chris Elliott who talked about his latest venture with cyprusscene.com which is now sharing news and reviews with Cyprus Art Graph who are publishing the new Cyprus Scene weekly newspaper with these contributions.
My interview with these great people will be screened on Sunday 12th November at 15.00pm and it will be repeated on Tuesday 14th November at 18.30pm and on Friday 17th November at 20.00pm so do tune in to join me on my show, Vox Pop on BRT2 Television.
