K-Pet League 1 : Venue : Esentepe Erdal Barut Stadium.
The second half of this match which was suspended on Sunday due to a storm of epic proportions again resulted in stalemate. Despite Sunday’s deluge the pitch was in remarkably good condition.
As with the “first half/match” the second half was just as poor with both teams making elementary errors. This match was destined to be a 0-0, and so it turned out to be.
Lapta were the more dominant team forcing 3 corners in succession, the last of those corners in the 57th minute almost resulted in Esentepe taking the lead. The corner was cleared by the defence to Ahmet who made rapid steps towards the Lapta goal, before finding Turan, with a clear opportunity but the striker shot wide of goal

As before, Lapta had the better chances, none more so than in the 59th minute when Esentepe’s Muhammed was badly positioned on the far post allowed Selçuk to get a header in that Goalkeeper Kemal managed to deflect onto the far post.
Esentepe’s final chance and perhaps their best chance (of the 2 matches) came in the 80th minute, when following a Turan back header Başak from only a few yards out headed wide of goal.

SUMMING UP : A strange affair, I found it difficult to accept a football match played over 2 days. If it were cricket with rain affecting play, then it’s normal, With Football being an ‘ impact’ sport it was strange to comprehend, I am sure the players found it so as well. 0-0 probably summed up what was a poor match. I think though that for Esentepe it was not 2 points lost but a point gained as Lapta were the better team overall.
Just a couple of mentions, firstly for the referee Timur Ercan Bodi who I thought had an excellent match, very firm but also very fair.
ONUR ÖZBINGÜL- Esentepe best player.
Another mention for Esentepe’s tall 19 year old defender playing ONUR ÖZBINGÜL playing his 3rd only senior match, though very raw and inexperienced he was outstanding over the “2 matches”.
