A public information meeting was held regarding the sidewalk, infrastructure construction and restoration work to be done in Bellapais (Beylerbeyi).

Yesterday (17th September), a public information meeting was held regarding the work of storm, infrastructure and restoration which is planned to be carried out in 4 stages at Bellapais (Beylerbeyi) which is located within the boundaries of Girne Municipality.

The meeting was held at the Bellapais Monastery, and attended by Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü, municipal employees and citizens.  Information was given about the work to be carried out on the route from the entrance of the village to the car park next to the monastery, and the opinions and recommendations of the citizens were noted.  Ali Yapioglu, responsible for the Girne Municipality Design Studio, made a presentation of the works to be carried out.

Güngördü:  To make arrangements for authentic materials.

Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü stated that the municipality was carrying out serious studies regarding the regulation of pedestrian and vehicle traffic with the increasing density in the city and stated that it is intended to reorganize the village of Bellapais, which is one of the most important tourism areas of the country.  Nidai Güngördü said that they had to consider every part of the city and said, “We need to design every part we improve in a scientific, technical and attractive way.”

What does the project include?

The project involves covering the existing asphalt with natural stone on the route from the entrance of the village to the car park next to the monastery, submerging electricity and telephone lines, renewing the rainwater and drinking water network.   According to the results of the research and analysis, general restoration and restoration work on the facades of the buildings will be done.
