On the 18th July the Girne Amphitheatre hosted the play entitled “Pigeons without Wings” performed by the Theatre AŞHK.

This year Kyrenia Municipality’s 7th Kyrenia Culture and Arts Festival carried the slogan “a bright future for the arts”.   Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü, Serdarli Mayor Salih Bayraktar and citizens watched the play which was directed by Turkish Cypriot artist Hüseyin Köroğlu.

The next event in the 7th Kyrenia Culture and Arts Festival, which will continue throughout the year, will be Irem Derici, a favourite of Turkish pop music, who will be performing at the Girne Amphitheatre on the evening of Tuesday, 8th August 2017.

Güngördü:  We place great importance on the Arts

Girne Mayor, Nidai Güngördü, in his speech at the event said it is important to draw attention away from the people living in conflict countries by showing interest in the arts, he emphasized that they are respectful towards each other, and this year’s slogan is “a bright future for the arts”.  At the end of his speech, Güngördü expressed his appreciation to the Theatre AŞHK Art Director Hüseyin Köroğlu on behalf of the city council.  Güngördü noted that the event was sponsored by Korman Construction Ltd.

Köroğlu: We respect the people who contribute to the theatre

Hüseyin Köroğlu gave thanks to the Mayor of Girne, Nidai Güngördü, for emphasizing the importance of cultural and artistic activities. Köroğlu presented plaques with respect for the late Tomris İncer, the Muhtar of Pınarlı village Halil Öztürk Kemaloğulları and TV programmer Hakan Çakmak, and the Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü and Hüseyin Köroğlu presented plaques to each other.

At the end of the evening plaques were presented to Osman Alkaş, the General Art Director of Girne Municipality Derman Atik and Cenk Gürçağ, who received the plaque for his daughter Cemile Gürçağ.
