Egyptian student honoured by NASA chooses TRNC for her higher education

The Egyptian award winner from 2015’s Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF 2015) Yasmine Yehia Moustafa, who was also honoured by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has chosen the TRNC to study for her higher education. Moustafa was visited by Al Jazeera TV at the Middle East Technical University (METU) Northern Cyprus Campus, where she studies in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Program.

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition organized every year in the US city of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Each year, more than 1700 high school students from more than 70 countries, regions, and territories compete at Intel ISEF. Yasmine Yehia Moustafa, won the first place award for Earth and Environmental Sciences category with her project “Rice Straw Power” at the Intel ISEF 2015 competition, which took place in Pittsburgh. Her project focused firstly on improving cleaning and clearing water sources, then shifting it in order to solve issues relating to electricity production and reducing air pollution.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has honoured Yasmine Yehia Moustafa, naming a newly discovered main belt asteroid as ‘31910 Moustafa’.
