Scruffs – Supporting E.F.R.A.R and Hope4Pets

On Sunday 26th March, dogs of all ages and sizes graced the parade ring at Roots Bar in Küçük Erenköy to compete in the first ‘Scruffs’ dog show.  E.F.R.A.R. – Supporting those with Cancer – and Hope4Pets worked together to organise the show in support of both charities.

Around 100 people and 35 dogs enjoyed an afternoon of fun in the sunshine as the dogs competed in 7 different categories including best small, medium or large dog and the most popular ‘catch the sausage’ competition.  The first 3 in each category received a rosette and certificate and the owners were even more competitive than their pets!

Brian Thomas, the Chairman of Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch, judged the categories with humour and patience and contributed towards the great atmosphere.

With the registration fees, raffle and a generous donation from Roots Bar, the event raised 2,185TL which was shared between E.F.R.A.R. and Hope4Pets.

Mary Watson, Chair of E.F.R.A.R. said  ‘This is the first time that the two charities have worked together and it was a great success, which I hope we will be able to repeat next year.  I would like to thank Ivor and Gill Moon from E.F.R.A.R., Caroline Griffiths and Sandra Miles from Hope4Pets, our judge Major (Retd) Brian Thomas BEM, and Hannah and Ashley from Roots Bar, together with everyone else involved’
