I wonder how Mr Akıncı managed to keep the Cyprus Peace negotiations going for nearly two years knowing Mr Anastasiades has no patience with people

When, as the founder of TRNC tourism and then Honorary President of the TRNC Hoteliers Association,  I tried to talk at the American Embassy to Mr Anastasiades a few weeks before his election as President about bringing the two Cyprus communities together by organising a joint two centre holiday project between south and north Cyprus, he just turned his back to me and walked away even though I had met him before several times.

Mr Akıncı should be given a medal for being patient and tolerating him for such a long time. Mr Anastasiades was a king and now he has promoted himself to be an Emperor at least that is how I felt with the way he treated me.

I feel very sorry that Mr Akinci has had to suffer him all this time to try to solve this very serious Cyprus problem, especially as the solution has to be based on TRUTH of the past historical disasters that the former Republic of Cyprus caused when they sought Enosis (union) with Greece.  In fact the world should think again since the former popular UK, Foreign Minister, Mr Jack Straw said the EU should try and repair the damage they have done by imposing Embargoes on the Turkish Cypriot people by accepting the south of  Cyprus as EU members with the support of Greece as well

Cyprus  not only bankrupted themselves, they nearly destroyed the EU as well but still treat the Turkish Cypriots as if they should not exist in Cyprus so that they can achieve Enosis (Union) with Greece.

Please WORLD, wake up to all that is going on in Cyprus before we have more unsolvable disasters than we already had in the past.

  1. Bravo, well said. We are sick and tired if being ignored. We do exist, we always have done and continue to do so. We want equality and peace.xx

  2. You deserve a medal yourself John Aziz Kent for trying to talk to MR Hot Head like Anastasiades! He comes across as a very rude person that does not deserve to be a president. I would be surprısed if he wins a second term. Akıncı has stood his ground until now and gave every concession he could to keep the PEACE talks on Cyprus going. But, enough is enough !!!

  3. Very well written sir. You too deserve a medal for writing it as such. I had a very bad experience when I was offered a job in the Greek quarter. My my I was treated worse than a gutter rat by those people almost everywhere and would have my change thrown at me after shopping. Their leader acts the same, so follow him like sheep.
I was fortunate enough to be having a coffee at an English cafe in Ayia Napa when I met some English ladies from the TRNC.
From that I was asked to go and work for them with their horses. I did and I never looked back.
I do kick myself for not going to the north. In all of the countries I have been to or worked in, TRNC is my number one favourite. I hope that with this nasty turn of events by the greasy Greeks will have a new beginning for the Turkish community and the whole of the TRNC. You deserve it and how people in the past have been wrong to judge you like they have.
I finish my teaching term in Thailand soon and will be heading to your beautiful side of the island and never to set foot again or have anything to do with the Greeks ever again.

  4. Well done and well said Mr Kent….Unfortunately these words, and words like these always seem to fall on deaf ears..It seems that the powers to be only hear what they want to hear..No change there then. …The whole world knows what’s going on , but they choose to look the other way ..They have own agenda I’m sure….The referendum was a historical milestone. .The North voted YES. ..The South voted NO…There’s a big message in there somewhere. ..The South do not want to be as one with the North ,unless of course it’s on their terms….A scarey thought….
Even now the South are still on the enosis trail..Where would that leave us if they ever got any power over the Turks again.
.This scenario reminds me slightly of football games ,where an awful foul is committed ( eoka), a move that could have direct consequences on the outcome of the game ( greeks turks situation) and possibly the future of the club..( Cyprus) .In a big match, that’s possibly 60000 people see that players (grivas) foul live at the stadium ,they all scream foul, the cameras all see it ..,world wide on televisions millions of people see it…Funny how the only people not to see this foul is the referee. ( The West). . .The only person that can correct the mistake and rectify any problem..
    How does that happen..
.Makes you wonder why these people see only what they want to see .and only when it suits them…There is usually an end game…
Sound like a familier scenario. ?.
In our case as Turkish Cypriots ,this has been the case for us for almost 50 years..The amount of injustices we have suffered, yet we are the ones being punished by the west by embargoes .What exactly are we being punished for…?..for surviving maybe ? ..In 1974 Turkey as a guarantor power intervened to stop widespread bloodshed…
The island was seperated..The Turkish cypriots and greek cypriots have lived in peace since then,…Does this not mean anything to the world… This action should have been commended not punished..
Akinci has been trying hard to join the island up in some way shape or form for quite a while now…Maybe he feels there is some hope…I for one see that the way Anastasiades and the the majority of the Greek Cypriot political parties and their government stance is towards the North, and lets not forget that they do reflect the views and opinions of the people who voted them in ,that there could never be a peaceful unity with the two sides..
I’m sure that I am not alone in the opinion that we want a peaceful solution for the Island…..but then again I am sure that i am not alone in the opinion that we can never have a peaceful solution ,based simply on the unacceptable behaviour of Anastasiades and his government and lack of respect towards the Turkish cypriot people…Which goes to show their mindset towards the Turkish cypriots and how this has never changed. .
Two big factors in living in peace and harmony is Equality and Respect…
Up to now these two things have never been shown towards us and i believe they never will ..

    .

  5. Mr Akinci worked really hard and it is appreciated by the TRNC but at least we now know that the Greeks do not want equality. We have suffered enough from embargoes, discrimination and being seen as the aggressors, when in actualy fact we were more like the victims of abuse. We need to move onwards and upwards because the TRNC deserves better than that.
