Each new year brings us hope and prayers of health and happiness. Every year we reflect on the past year. Some dreams crash, others are fulfilled. Looking at the world from a wide perspective often gives us either joy or despair. The world is going through turmoil that seems to grow with each passing year. Sadly as always it’s the vulnerable and innocents who suffer the most. From the safety of our homes we witness children bloodied by war fleeing for their lives, when they should be playing and studying. Women attacked and raped when they should be adored, loved and respected. Young men losing their lives when they should be studying and working for a better future. Entire families decimated in the face of war, starvation and brutality.
Some dance on the graves of innocents using the name of God, ideology, politics and whatever excuse they see fit. As humans we often fail the basic principles that we should all adhere to, that is the sanctity of life and love for our fellow humans. We can only pray that one day the perpetrators wake up and see the destructive path to which they are dedicated to achieve. People need to constantly highlight this stone age mentality which only serves zero happiness, hatred and untold misery. Our diversity and differences in cultural and religious upbringing can and should be seen as a positive for us all.
With no end to the world political and economic crisis in sight, many no doubt have their own problems so they view the future with apprehension, concern and pessimism. For all our woes, we in the West enjoy a standard of living that the vast majority of the world’s population cannot even dream about. Yes it’s hard, yes we are going through a rough patch, and yes many are downgrading to a lower standard of living. But let’s not forget that hundreds of millions in the world have no electricity, no running water, very basic medical care and no social security to speak of. So let’s celebrate what we have, rather than what we think we should have. Let’s celebrate the most important thing in life, that is life itself, but above all let’s hope and pray for those that are less fortunate than ourselves.

No se trata de cambiar la fruta sino la fe, la fuerza y el enfoque!
