On Saturday October 29 the island not only celebrates Turkey’s Independence Day but also a most beloved western holiday, that of Halloween (October 31 normally).
Jetting in from Istanbul between filming his hit show Wardrobe Wars – Gardirop Savaşları” will be the much loved TC Raşit Bağzıbağlı, international couturier and recent designer of Beyonce’s stage outfit!. Raşit will be judging all incoming costumes on originality, design and even searching for those that went the extra mile and created something from recycled materials! The master designer is adored by millions of fans and will be here to also meet and greet an adoring public.
When asked what he’d like to see fundraising for here on the island he said, ” I’d like to see the trash cleaned up and a real ecological effort made to save the nature that feeds us”. A CLEAN CYPRUS COMMITTEE agreed with him and set to work immediately with an exchange promise that next year they would host his amazing fashions on a runway at Bellapais Abbey with award winning soprano Demetra George Mustafaoglu serenading.
Young trick and treaters will arrive at 5 pm and make a costume parade for the distinguished judge then proceed to the dinner area, and then have a chance for pony rides and a Petting zoo. Next on the horizon will be a mini concert with local talent from several artists, Suna Alsancak, Peri Sualp, accompanied by Maestro Rauf Kasimov, a song or two from Hostess Demetra, dancers, fire twirlers and perhaps some magic acts. Then the guests have a chance to try their hand at music making with the karaoke contest for all ages. Judges selecting the winners and awarding the prizes will be Desi and Ahmet Baştaş.
The tired little souls may head home at this point after they have played games, trick or treated and taken goodie bags home! At this point adults will head to the pool/garden area for dinner, drinks, dancing, games and palm and cup readings and the big Backgammon (Tavla) challenge. The DJ will play from the balcony of the Villa Diva observatory through the night and they might catch a glimpse of a flying goblin or two.
Come one, come all to the Halloween Ball. Park your broomsticks at the door for a quick getaway when the bewitching hour arrives and join your friends for an enchanted evening.
A CLEAN CYPRUS is raising funds for recycling and rubbish containers, Adopt a Highway, Automobile Trashbags, Public Service Announcements on television, Eco Classes at Şah Marketplace, and will interface with the Ministry of Environment to ban plastic bags and increase rubbish fines.
