Result ; AKOVA SK 2 ESENTEPE KKSK. 3 (Friendly Match)

Wednesday October 6th 2016. at Görneç Üç Şehitler Stadyumu

Two of Esentepe’s summer signings scored in this entertaining match played at Görneç stadium situated just below the mountains giving stunning views over the surrounding area.

Defender Firat Kulle and a brace of goals from striker Taccettin Köse enabled Esentepe to take command of this match, before they again gave away two late penalties to Akova to make the scoreline more respectable.

On a very warm sunny afternoon Akova settled quickly as Esentepe took time to adjust to the artificial playing surface. When they did settle Esentepe took command of the game and took the lead in the 22nd minute through defender Firat. The Akova goalkeeper made a hash of dealing with a long free kick from Hüseyin, missing the ball completely leaving Firat the simple chance of tapping in. 0-1.

Taccettin increased Esentepe’s lead in the 28th minute meeting a low cross from Emre Soyturk at the near post and scoring a typical strikers goal. 0-2.

Esentepe and Akova both made a few changes to their teams during the interval. Akova came close to scoring in the 52 minute when a free kick crashed against the Esentepe bar.

Taccettin scored another opportunist goal fastening onto a long goal kick from Ali and firing past the Akova keeper 0-3.

Both sides continued to make changes and Akova pulled a goal back in the 65th minute from the penalty spot following an incident I missed! 1-3

Akova were awarded a second penalty in the 73rd minute, when Hurkan back in his area defending a free kick miss timed his jump and the ball struck his arm. The penalty was duly dispatched. 2-3.

Akova could now see a chance of saving the game and they pressed forward, but Esentepe defending in numbers held out for a deserved win. FT: 2-3.

An encouraging performance from Esentepe, missing several key players through injury and work commitments. Taccettin scored two strikers goals and he looks like he will be the answer to Esentepe’s scoring problems. The only blot on the copybook again, was giving away penalties.
